The Barbarellatones

I've recently fallen in love with a fabulously sleazy, trashy and Glamorous band
   the Barbarellatones, hailing from Malibu, Hollywood California. Robbie Quine
   Singer/songwriter/ guitarist's, inspiration for the band is spaceslut sci fi B movies
   Trash.

   Robbie Quine is a paradox within a paradox to himself, a Goth who loves
   to spend most of his days surfing in the Californian Sun, heavily adoned with all
   over body tattoos, golden tan and long blond hair he rides the waves with
   his leopard print surf board and even though Robbie loves to dress in drag,
   he really is 100% Hetero red blooded male, which is great news for us ladies,
   as he is one hell of a sexy guy! .

   The rest of the bands line up consists of Dave Anson/Surf Guitar
   Eddie Munster/ Bass and Roy Stanley on Drums.
   Robbie and Roy were formerly with the Gothabilly band Sex With Lurch.
   which have now disbanded .Currently he is working on a play called Glitter Beach
   which he is Co writing with Vicky Hamilton. Vicky used to manage Poison,
   Faster Pussycat and Guns and Roses. Glitter Beach is the story of a glam Rock Surfer
   and his slutty adventures (Sounds familiar) Robbie tells me its going to be
   something in the vein of The Rocky Horror show and Hedwig.

   Casting is being held on the 30th may and Robbie is hoping to be debuting his
   play at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood this Autumn. He's a very busy man
   because as well as his play he is also working on his new CD "Devils Dildo" with
   Producer Paul Rosseler of The Screamers. The Barbarellatones are as yet unsigned
   but Robbie says he actually likes it that way as for him it has a more DIY feel to it.
   Robbie has quite a plethora of CDs under his belt with such titles as
   " When Marrionettes Kill" Glamourpuss", Beyond The Valley of The Barbarellatones"
   Invasion of The Surf Zombies" Coldsore" Interview with the Glampire
   and their latest and also the one that iv been listening to and absolutely love
   "Temple Of Shiva."

   Temple of Shiva sounds like The Velvet Underground meets Pychedelic surfing
   sleazy Grind A GoGo on acid,with its has a heavy hypnotic, haunting, pounding beat yet at
   the same time its Melodic with very catchy hooks, original and really danceable,
   Robbie has an amazing way with his lyrics which are uniquely funny, witty
   and very clever. Tracks that stand out for me are Glitter Beach a song about a
   GlamRock Surfer which is a homage to the lovely Robbie himself, Trashe De Blanc,
   Pretty Ballerina, Dopestick Dolly and my personal favorate I.B.T.C. Robbie tells
   me that he likes humour in music and Glam is so Camp and fun.
   The I.B.T.C song is a kind of Junior high school anthem with a Tranny slant to
   it and Dopestick Dolly is his Jerry Springer Redneck-White-Trashy song.

   As I wrote at the beginning of this feature I've fallen in love
   with The Barbarellatones they sound as great as they look !

   Broadway' in Huntington Beach..
