Rebellion 2008 - The Duel
By Hugh Janus
Well, The Duel took to the stage at Rebellion 2008 on a hot afternoon in Blackpool, England. Having read 'rave' reviews in other mags and on-line 'zine's, I'd travelled across the water from the States to witness them for myself, for the very first time.
Looking around the room, one thing became plainly obvious to me, and that was The Duel have no fan-base whatsoever, despite the few, and I do mean FEW, diehards that were clearly friends of the band, and a couple of on-lookers who were there waiting for some other band to come on.
Tara fumbles her 'lack of' stage pressence around, spending more time looking at her shoes than entertaining the audience. This is classic British 'Pub-Rock'..nothing else! The songs are dull as dishwater, the band look untidy and the whole vibe is poor.
The standard of musicianship was above average, I mean, these guys know how to play, they just don't know how to write a good song! I'm bored, where's the bar?
