My Happy Gun is a New York City band made up of members of other NYC bands– Foxglove, SHLSHKD, Rockethouse and Oscura, to name only a few. They sound like they’re from some other place, a place where Link Wray, Nick Cave, and X all hang out and swap tales of adventure. This makes sense in a city where so many people come from somewhere else. Garage, surf, spaghetti-western, and all manner of rock ’n’ roll are rolled into a tasteful mix.

My Happy Gun rocks with style. They remember the music that gave birth to what would eventually become “alternative music” and use the best parts to create a very modern, if often dark, cinematically musical landscape.

The sound of this band takes you straight back to the gutters of 1970's Bowery...think Television, Iggy & The Stooges, MC5 and the darker side of the Velvet Underground, and you're halfway there! There's a heavy leaning to a 1960's garage band sound with the echo/tremelo guitars giving a very eerie feel.

The songs are all well written and individual in their delivery, with a great blend of quiet-loud-quiet moments, you can tell they know what they're doing when they write. I especially love the bass-driven 'Cold Star', which is the stand out track on the album.

If you're a fan of the darker side of life, then this band will blow you clean away!
