Rebellion 2008 - The Rabble

Mescaline-Punk - The Rabble on stage at Rebellion 2008
I was under no illusion when I took a place down the front of the Main Arena for a set by The Rabble, that this was gonna be messy! Not in terms of ability or attitude, oh no, in terms of sheer power and the 'pit' we were standing within.
The Festival was in full swing when three guys from New Zealand hit the stage. Being a footy fan myself, I was surprised that a 'Haka' wasn't performed prior to their set, as is the tradition just before battle begins....no need for that though, these guys went straight for the jugular. They were here to make an impression, and man did they achieve that goal!!
The spiky-tops and Mo-hawks went wild when they blasted into the first song. This is pure, energy driven punk rock of the highest order. There were few acts that caught the imagination of the Rebellion like The Rabble, and it must have been quite daunting for the next band to keep up the intensity they created.

The Rabble ripping up Rebellion
The band has been over here in the United Kingdom, touring and fine tuning their art. They have covered some serious ground in such a short time, winning over audiences at every stage of the journey, and here they are, continuing the mission. The crowd for their set was one of the biggest so far, and to consider they are relative new-comers to the Euro-scene, was a massive achievement in itself....there are lot's of other 'distractions' at Rebellion.
The wonderful 'Friday Night' and 'This World Is Dead' rocked out and stood out during their 35 minutes of fame, but the rest of the material is as catchy and well-written too.
The Rabble aren't just here to make up the numbers, they're here to Rock!
Check 'em out and do yourselves a favour!
