Shakinouts Review

“We write songs that aim to make people dance and feel good, singalongs, catchy,
instant 3 minute pop songs. And we do it for one and only one reason - we love it!
We dont dream of anything other than getting our songs heard and into people heads.
Success is a by-product of such a thing and that is not the reason we do it.“

When Shakinouts formed in the spring of 2007 it was more to do with
another bands
implosion and a feeling of an unfinished job than the usual
ambition of bands seeking
fame and wealth. With memories of painful break ups now buried it
is still the burning
desire to get their songs heard that causes the four lads to
continue and as we reach almost
the year anniversary of the bands formation it is starting to
become quite apparent that
no tantrums or bust up are going to stop them this time.
Labels, known names and most importantly the people who matter are
listening and spreading
the word that Shakinouts have the songs and the fire to get to the
top.
The members of Shakinouts; Matt, (vocals, guitar) Ben (Bass) Jamie
(vocals, guitars, songs)
and Alex (drums) have the spirit of bands like The Clash, The
Kinks, The Buzzcocks, The Cribs,
The Libertines and many more and the output shows this as they
deliver song after song that
reflects all these influences but is completely their own.
The one and only aim of the band is that the songs have to fit into
the conventions of every
great pop song – quick, entertaining and unbelievably catchy.
This band throw songs away that many bands would fight for.

Shakinouts also filmed there first video in January 2008 to promote
the release of their
debut single and in February 2008 the single was released limited to
500 copies on CD titled
‘Time you were told’ and the band watched it sell out in every shop
that put in on
the shelves. Press also got behind the release with articles in No
Title Magazine,
Sandman Magazine and newspapers The Yorkshire Evening Post as well
as a number
of other local papers. Artists from The Kaiser Chiefs,The Pigeon
Detectives,
Skint and Demoralised, Air traffic as well as the legend Edwyn
Collins
also have all recently spoken out in favour of the band.
Now with gigs played at nearly every major venue in West Yorkshire
including, the Cockpit,
Brudenell Social Club, Josephs Well and The Warehouse, Shakinouts
now plan to expand
further a field around The North and visits will be made to as many
cities as they can as well
as a planned return visit to The Cockpit.
The step up to success has begun and much like those other bands
from the city The Kaiser Chiefs
and The Pigeon Detectives Shakinouts are ready to follow in their
footsteps and seem destined
to move into the same league.
They seem desperate to not let the momentum that they have forced to
begin slow
down and will not let anyone or anything stand in their way but with
the songs they
have and the feel-good pop vibe that they deliver why would anybody
want to?
